First and Greatest Commandment

maarriageSince review is the price of knowledge we should often remind ourselves of the first and greatest commandment in the Bible. When someone asked Jesus to designate the most important commandment in the Bible, our Lord immediately quoted Deuteronomy 6:5, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Then our Lord unhesitatingly declared that this is the first and greatest commandment. Let’s often remind ourselves that this commandment states the goal of keeping all commandments found in Scripture. Therefore, we hate every impediment to loving Father, Son and Holy Spirit more. We shun everything that diminishes our affection for the Lord.   Living with the first and greatest commandment in mind makes us more than conquerors through him who loved us and gave himself for us!

  2. Such a good reminder, Brother James. As the chaos in our world increases, we can love with God’s love and hearts will open..
It’s His love that enables us to reach out to the most difficult people and circumstances and be available, because we are greatly loved, and we know He loves them. We’re not of those who shrink back – because we are His beloved and He is ours.
Weekend blessings to you both and much love from all here……….d

  3. The blog is an amazing tool to reach others. I forward your weekly scripture and blog to my cousin in Scotland, and he is amazed at how God is just speaking to him through those passages. Being reminded that we are to love God with all of our being, and walk in this continually to reach others with his love is the foundation and core of what our lives should be. I thank you both for your faithfulness.
