Faith in God; Fruitfulness From God

Abraham and family

Abraham enjoyed a good life.  Surrounded by friends, family and a prosperous community, he faced a secure, delightful future.  Confidence in his ancestors’ gods appeared to keep the supernatural on his side.

Suddenly, the invisible Spirit of the true God flooded Abram’s mind with brand new thoughts.  “Leave your family, your friends, your culture and move to a land that I will show you.” How absolutely radical!  How utterly unreasonable!

But God’s message wasn’t complete yet.  After speaking his commands to Abram’s heart, God uttered a farfetched, Abraham's Covenantout-in-left-field promise, “I will make you a blessing to all the families of the earth,” Genesis 12:1-3.

Let me paraphrase God’s message to Abram.  “If you will live by faith in me, I will make your life immeasurably fruitful.”  Through Jesus, Abraham’s most famous descendant, the whole human race enjoys blessing heaped upon blessing.  In addition, to this earthly life, we shall continue experiencing Abraham’s blessings throughout eternity.  That’s God-sized fruitfulness!

You aren’t Abraham, but you belong to Abraham’s God.  The Lord’s attachment to you will inevitably make you a fruitful Christian, person, family member and witness about Jesus.

pray, faith, GOdHave faith in God.  Your faith in God will most definitely make you fruitful for God.  “As for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded,” 2 Chronicles 15:7.

Prayer: “Lord Jesus, thank you for becoming an earthling in order to show us how to become a human who completely pleases heavenly Father.  We yearn to be conformed to God’s image so we can experience ever deeper intimacy with him.”
