What Have You Done For Your Spirit Today?

Morning RoutineYou begin your day with about eight hours sleep.  You arise from your slumber, make your physical appearance presentable and enjoy breakfast.  During all these activities, you unconsciously breathe the air God created, experience the energy your circulatory system provides and experience the sensations your nervous system feels.  You proceed through your day, taking care of all your physical needs and desires. But what have you done for your spirit today?

You are a human spirit.  You don’t have a spirit–you are a spirit.  You are a human spirit which just happens to reside in a body.

Yes, God honors the Christian’s body by calling it a temple of the Holy Spirit.  Your body is also a temple for your human spirit.

Humans take care of the temple but so often neglect the spirit.  And guess what?  The temple fades away but the spirit endures forever.  So, what have you done for your spirit today?

Prayer Alone with GodHave you fed your spirit the Word of God?  Have you praised the Lord who made you a spirit?  Have you spent private time with his Holy Spirit?  Have you worshipped, thanked and glorified the Jesus who redeemed you from all sin?  Just what have you done for your spirit today?

BibleThe human spirit possesses no independent life.  It only lives as the Holy Spirit resides in it.  As we read the Word, hear the Word preached and taught and meditate upon the Word, the Word imparts God’s life to our human spirit.  As a result, our spirit flourishes.  The love of God, the peace of God, and the joy of God fill our spirits.  The power of God permeates our spirit.  We feel the Lord near; we conquer doubt and anxiety; we detest sin and love righteousness.  Mostly we yearn to please the One who loved us and gave himself for us.

Perhaps we should utter this prayer, “Father, help me value my spirit like you value it!”

God always honors commitment into which he called us.  We honor his commitment to us by believing his promises.  Because of this dual commitment, he leads us from success to success.
